Riad Hna Ben Saleh is a restored family house in the Medina of Marrakech. Its plan is the classic riad plan: rooms turned inwards around a courtyard, a staircase to the terrace, and thick walls that keep the heat outside.

The Riad
A house arranged around the courtyard
Architecture
Arched openings, tadelakt lime plaster, cedar woodwork and zellige floors. The proportions are those of an old medina house, and nothing has been added that the house did not already suggest.
The courtyard
Open to the sky and planted, the courtyard is where the day starts and ends. It stays cool through the afternoon and quiet long after the square has filled.
Atmosphere
Warm light, low seating, hand-woven textiles and the sound of water. The riad is intimate rather than grand, a private house that receives a few guests at a time.
Hospitality
A small team lives the house daily: breakfast, mint tea, advice on the medina, help with taxis and excursions. Ask, and it is usually arranged.
